Picture…Pictures…Pictures….I loooooove pictures. I’m usually the one at every party that has the camera out…and the one that posts them online that same night or latest the next day. I love taking pictures so much that for my client weddings I usually take tons of pictures during their wedding & post them online for the couple to view the following day. Gives them a little peak before they head off to their honeymoon.

Most professional photographers can take up to 3 months to filter through, edit and present pictures to their clients which is why my clients are so happy to receive my shots the next day. Here are a few shots I’ve taken of my clients through the years.

I’ve always loved being able to capture a moment in time. Life is always about making memories & being able to provide that extra little service for my Brides & Grooms makes me feel like I have a little edge against my competition.

I digress….I’ve worked with some of the best of the best in the industry. I’ve worked with Anthony Vasquez {who’s shot many celebrities, most recently one of the Jonas Brother’s Weddings}, Christian Oth Studio {Alison Mayfield & Michael Falco} & Modern Wedding Photography to name some of my most favorite Photographers & Studios. You can’t got wrong with any of those vendors.

One of my last client weddings I worked with a photographer Jason Kim. I have to say, out of ANY vendors I’ve worked with, I had a complete & utter blast with him. We worked extremely well together & I was blown away by the pictures he took for my clients. I later found out that he actually broke away from the Photo Studio he was working for & decided to venture out on his own.

This was wonderful news…his talent stands on it’s own & I am one of his biggest fans & supporters, because I knew he would be a force to be reckoned with once he went solo. And I knew that when our day came I wanted to scoop him up for our wedding, no second thought given to any other vendors I’ve worked with in the past.

Jase Kim Photography is our Wedding Photographer & we are both really excited to not only partake in the niche “Beloved” engagement shoot he does, but for him to absolutely capture the love Jeff & I feel for each other in a format that is so dear to me.

We met with him last week & although I had met him before our dynamic was a little different {and more casual} than while we were actually working together. With some sangria & tapas on the table Jason explained to both of us in-depth what a “Beloved” session would entail. We loved the uniqueness of how he would photograph us, capturing a raw true emotion, rather than a staged pose against a Meatpacking District wall in Manhattan.

He got to know us as a couple & not as clients. He asked great questions to evoke interest & our conversations stemmed from online dating to religion. Definitely a non-traditional vendor meeting, which is why we knew he would be able to make us both extremely comfortable during the shoots & even more so on our special day.

We couldn’t be more thrilled with our pick. So much that I wasn’t expecting Jeff to say to me that he’s really excited to do the engagement shoot only minutes after we left the meeting. To evoke such a comfortable & excited nature from a groom when it came to take pictures is a fête all brides try to accomplish. So I was pretty excited to see it in his eyes.

Jason Kim is a not only a talented Photographer but he’s able to really connect with his clients & make them feel incredibly comfortable & excited to show others the love they feel for each other.

We are excited & can’t wait to do our Beloved Engagement shoot with him come warm weather in either May or June!

Our Movie Magic

When planning my client weddings & my own there is a running theme of priorities. I tell all my clients when they start thinking about where & how to spend their money….where to put more towards the budget….they need to make a “NEED” list & “WANT” list. This helps all my clients determine if certain aspects of the wedding are more important than others & allowing for more of the funds to be allocated to that particular item.

For me…my “NEED” list was very simple. I “NEED” the following:

  • An incredible Cinematographer to shoot our wedding {Make Movie Magic}
  • A talented & creative photographer that shoots photojournalism style photos {or editorial}
  • And lastly a Floral Designer who can bring what I have in my head come alive

For me those three are really important. Movies & Photos can last a lifetime. And as I’ve mentioned before to me the way our wedding looks  is truly important & I really want my vision to come alive. {Speaking of Floral Decor, I’m actually going for my Floral Design appointment tonight…but I won’t disclose who & what we have planned till later in the week}.

So back to my Cinematographer….I have worked with some amazing videographers….and I had 3 that were on my wish list.

All these three cinematographers shoot in HD {but then again who doesn’t nowadays}…have an unobtrusive camera {it actually looks like a regular high quality hand-held camera}….and their highlight films & reels look like something out of a movie. The editing & the way they put the days events together is compelling & moves me every time I watch ANY of their Wedding Videos. Their work is very non-traditional cheesy wedding video.

I reached out to Moetic Films & their starting price for NY Shoots are $6,950 {Yaowza!} They do amazing work…but yet again my expensive tastes got the better of me. However, I knew I would find another vendor as equally talented…if not better! 😉

Magic Flute Videos has been a Company that I’ve worked with on several of my client weddings. Renzo is amazing to work with & love the way he shoots. Only problem, his Company goes away for Winter Months to Costa Rica…so they wouldn’t be around to actually shoot the wedding. Soooo back to the drawing board…

After doing some research online I came across 15 Minutes of Frame. To say I was blown away by their work is an understatement! Put it this way…I was so moved when I saw their wedding highlights on Vimeo I couldn’t help but start tearing up. And even though the other artists’ work is incredible…that was something they couldn’t do. Move me to tears. And that’s when I knew…They were our Cinematographers.

So far one of my favorite videos that I go back to watch over & over again is THIS HIGHLIGHT…Check it out! And tell me their work isn’t absolutely amazing.

So I reached out to Kaipo Schwab {who I’ve been in correspondence with before for other clients of mine AND to build a professional relationship to have them be one of VOW’s Exclusive Wedding Cinematographers}. We worked together on building a perfect package that gave us all the elements we wanted & working within our budget.

I was thrilled when it all worked out & we are now able to have them shoot our wedding. I honestly didn’t think I would be able to ever get them for our wedding but Kaipo was wonderful to work with & I’m so excited. Please check out their work, you will be blown away!

Laura was amazing! At first my family was not 100% convinced we needed a planner/coordinator and kept telling me it was unnecessary, and then during and after the wedding, every member of my family thanked me for hiring Laura because the wedding would have been a logistical disaster without her! My journey started over a year ago…to create a sunkist beachy & vibrant wedding for my clients Marissa & Paul. Location, Gurney’s Inn in Montauck, NY…I was also tasked to create a look for the rehearsal dinner which would be held the night before at Gurney’s but on a tented deck overlooking the ocean…

Laura was our saving grace throughout the entire planning process! Although I am a VERY organized person, I have obviously never been married before and needed guidance to get us started and keep us on track. I’m having a hard time putting into words just how helpful she was, so being that brides will be reading this review let me tell you some of the things she did that really stuck out in my head: she comprised a spreadsheet of venues with many of the specifics we were looking for, scheduled appointments, looked over contracts to ensure and protect us, formatted menus, programs, etc. and helped me print them til 11 PM!, pulled us in when we needed pulling in (thank God she talked us out of breakdancers! lol), responded to emails and phone calls extremely promptly (this was SO helpful to me, sometimes I feel like went back and forth about 20 times), helped us stay within budget, accompanied us on site visits which was particularly helpful when choosing vendors and picking flowers, provided “Day of” services which really helped keep myself and the bridal party on-time and troubleshoot the “problems” that inevitably arise (although I thought my anal-retentive planning skills could outdo any mishap, no matter how diligently I planned, things happened, and our special day I felt SO much better knowing I had a highly-skilled professional dealing with them other than a friend/family member — it’s your wedding day!), met face-to-face with us every few months just to make sure we were all on the same page, she listened to what WE wanted and took our ideas and put a creative, personalized twist on them to make them extra special and believe me our guests noticed…

I really hope you get the idea of how helpful her talent, professionalism, honesty, guidance, support and services were to us! She took the stress and tears out of wedding planning and really helped us keep it fun! Everyone at our wedding said how polished, personal and creative everything was, which was SO nice to hear because that told us all of our hard work was recognized and had paid off.

Working with Laura was a pleasure! I hired her for DOC services, but she was extremely responsive long before the day of, and was just a pleasure to have as a sounding board and a calming presence. I booked with Laura after speaking with many DOCs. Her rates were reasonable but beyond that, she was the most flexible and most enthusiastic about the task. Leading up to the wedding, I appreciated having her to email, ask questions of, etc. Before the wedding, she worked up a very detailed schedule for the day of, and during the wedding, she coordinated vendors, the venue, and helped make some of my DIY visions come to life. I really appreciated having her come up with that detailed schedule–it was a lifesaver and she had really good ideas for how to order things during the reception.

Before I had booked her, some people had told me that because my venue provided a maitre’d and a bridal attendant, that a separate DOC was not necessary. False! Brides need someone there to keep their interests at heart, not just the interests of the venue. It took a big load off of my parents and my husband and bridal parties’ shoulders to have her there. She was great and I appreciated her calming presence and her help very much!

I wanted to apologize to my readers for not keeping on top of the posts recently…as you all may know June is High Wedding Season & I’ve not only been working on a few weddings for this month {one of which I’ve been working on for over a year}, but I also traveled to Spain. I would have loved to visit these venues {https://wevowtoinspire.com/2010/02/11/weddings-in-spain/} but with going from Barcelona to up north on the French border, then out to Madrid all in 5 days…I didn’t see a slot to fit a site tour this go around…but it was lovely nonetheless.

On my travels I started thinking about enhancing my blog…maybe I don’t have time to create beautifully pictured posts & visual boards…but I can keep my readers up to speed on my thoughts & process while I plan weddings for my clients…I can bring you all into my world…I can give you a view of some of the “Day in the Life of a Wedding Planner” visuals…

So starting today…with a wedding that I’m doing tomorrow…I will start my VOW Diary Entries. I’m not only a blogger but I started & run my own Wedding Planning Company called VOW Wedding Consulting, of which I am very proud of having started & built a great reputation for.

Tomorrow I have a wedding for my clients Jennifer & Gene at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, NY. I was there last night and saw the grounds. They were stunning & they have made some incredible improvements. Beautifully LED lit pool & waterfalls, new stone on the terrace & Thomas Reitano is by far one of THE best Event Managers I’ve had the pleasure working with {and for my fellow Wedding Planners out there, we all know how difficult & uncooperative they can be sometimes, especially when a client comes in with their “own” wedding planner}. So I’m really looking forward to working this event tomorrow.

The bride & groom are just absolutely lovely & been a pleasure to work with. And it will also be my first experience with a Korean Ceremony {Paebek}. The couple has done a few DIY projects for this wedding & they came out looking like they were done by a professional, quite stunning actually. {custom tags for their favors, DIY Reception Menus, ceremony programs & an incredible escort table set up – pictures will be posted after the event are just a few}

As always, I take tons of pictures of the event so that as soon as I get home, I edit them & create an Online Photo Album for my clients to view immediately after the wedding {it’s something nice to look at & get a taste of prior to getting your final professional shots, but I think I do a decent job capturing the details if I do say so myself}.

It was a cold day in NY again…and I happened to be watching a special on WE Entertainment…the topic…their top 10 unforgettable wedding venues, hosted by David Tutera {who also happens to be my favorite celebrity wedding planner}…for those who didn’t see the show I wanted to share their fabulous finds…Here goes!

No. 10 – La Quinta Spa Resort – California

For a Spanish style wedding plan your special day at La Quinta Spa Resort. Gretta Garbo & Ginger Rogers were both married at this old Hollywood style wedding setting. With it’s 800 Spanish style rooms & 41 swimming pools, La Quinta is a dessert paradise with 305 days of incredible weather year round. There are several locations where you can have your wedding, whether indoors or outdoors in their beautiful courtyard.

No. 9 – Tavern on the Green – New York City

A truly New York City experience, Tavern on the Green is a hidden gem in the heart of Central Park. This glittery venue can be a sparkle amongst the hustle & bustle of the city. In 1934 it was turned into a restaurant from a shelter for sheep. It has 6 different rooms and the Crystal Room is a truly exquisite room with chandeliers that glitter in the night. You can also hold your cocktail hour outdoors in the garden courtyard, where the trees are all lit up with tiny lights. It’s truly a beautiful venue that can make any bride feel like a princess.

Next on the list is a place that holds for a more romantic, small & exclusive wedding. We go down south to the Keys…

No. 8 – Little Palm Island – Florida

Located on it’s own private island…Little Palm Island is truly a wonderful destination wedding location that will have your guests talking. It has 28 Bungalows & 2 Suites, and a magnifacent lagoon style pool. This island is perfect for a small destination wedding where your guests will feel like they are in a tropical paradise with no distractions {note: there are no phones or tv’s in any of the rooms & children under 16 are not permitted on the island}. You can have your intimate ceremony on the dock with water surrounding you & then head over to the terrace for an outdoor reception under the stars. Guests arrive by a private boat from the mainland & are greeted with rum punch to start the festivities. This place is actually MY favorite pick of the list!

But for those brides who want a less formal approach to their wedding WE took us to Sin City for a truly unique wedding option…

No. 7 – A Little White Chapel – Las Vegas

Sometimes brides don’t want the whole “hooplah’ when it comes to their ceremony, or the couple wants a more fun & spontaneous approach to their vows..A Little White Chapel would be your stop. Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, this Drive Up OR Drive Thru wedding center actually has it all. They have a full service Wedding Salon where brides can stop in & pick from their hundreds of dresses to wear down the isle…or snazzy up your groom with a tux & finish your look off with their hair & makup services & rent one of their many available accessories. Don’t have time to do a full ceremony…drive your car through the “Tunnel of Love” & for $40 you & your fiance can get hitched in a matter of minutes! Talk about a time efficient bride! It may not be for everyone, but it’s a surely fun option!

No. 6 – Columbia Gorge Hotel – Oregon

Columbia Gorge Hotel has a beautiful outdoor setting that overlooks the Columbia River. The historic hotel was built in 1921 and is considered the Waldorf of the West. Providing brides with either a scenic outdoor wedding ceremony area or an indoor fireplace area, this venue is a great place for a more outdoors, rustic {although the hotel is far from rustic} type of bride. The hotel has an English Garden feel to it and also has a waterfall that can provide for a wonderful backdrop.

No. 5 – Walt Disney World Resort Weddings – Florida

For the bride who truly wants to feel like a princess on her wedding day, Walt Disney World offers numerous packages & offers to brides who want that fairytale feeling for her special day. David Tutera has also teamed up with Disney…and customized 4 couture looks that brides can pick to have on their wedding day. There are many romantic venues to pick from…such as an aquarium, a grand ballroom or wedding on a private island that overlooks Cinderella’s Castle! Their bridal studio can help you customize your entire look down to every little detail.

The next venue is perfect for the weather we are currently experiencing…up next…a winter wonderland…

No. 4 – Cordillera Lodge Resort – Colorado

Sitting 8200 feet high above the Rocky Mountains, Vail Valley nestled on a secluded cliff sits Cordillera Lodge Resort..This place feels like a home away from home type of venue…for a cozy intimate not overly stuffy smaller wedding, this place is it. You can have a cocktail reception near the fireplace & then situate yourself in the reception room overlooking the mountains. They also have a gazebo should you choose to have an outdoor wedding ceremony sitting high above the clouds. It has breathtaking views & a  cozy feel.

No. 3 – The Grand Del Mar – California

Want to have a European feel to your wedding, but can’t bring your entire party there? Well with The Grand Del Mar you don’t have to travel very far. The hotel was completed in 2007 & it’s architectural wonder takes you to Spain, Morocco, Italy & the Mediterranean. It holds a 21,000 wine cellar & offers culinary sophistication to their guests & events. It has a Tuscan feel to the property & the landscaping brings you to a far away land. I would say this venue is perfect for the sophisticated bride who wants her guests to experience culinary & visual excellence.

No. 2 – Four Seasons Lana’i at Manele Bay Resort – Hawaii

This place has to be one of the top beach destination weddings out there. It’s absolutely incredible views will make for an unforgettable wedding. It used to be a pineapple plantation before it was turned into this high end resort. The wonderful thing about this place is that it holds only 1 wedding at a time, so the bride & groom will always feel like they are top priority. You can have your ceremony on the cliff with the panoramic ocean views {if you decide to have your wedding between November – January, you & your guests might catch a glimpse of whales in the distance}. Should you decide to have a beach ceremony, but want a more countryside reception, Four Seasons has another location that you can have your reception at, thus providing two very different experiences for your special day.

And last but not least…WE Entertainment & David Tutera’s No. 1 most Unforgettable Wedding Venue is….

Oheka Castle – Long Island, New York

For an experience like no other…having your very own castle to hold your truly spectacular event will truly be a special treat for your guests. Not only are the grounds amazing, but the inside of this Luxury Hotel/Castle will leave all your guests thinking that they have stepped back in time. Also…for brides you will also know that your event will be the only one taking place for the night. Your guests can wander around the castle & then for those who choose to stay the night, they can rest up in one of their 32 guest rooms. Oheka Castle will make any couple feel like a King & Queen for the day.

So there you have it…Top 10 Unforgettable Wedding Venues according to We Entertainment & David Tutera. I have to say that out of all places…Palm Island would be my pick…what’s yours?

As a Wedding Planner my clients are always asking me about ways they can honor their guests if they are traveling. The answer is usually Goodies Bags left at the Hotels the guests are staying at. As someone who has also been on the other side and received a bag upon check-in it’s really appreciated and quite a treat….I mean who doesn’t like to come back to the hotel room and maybe after a few cocktails have a little midnight snack?

But one of the hardest parts is figuring out what to put in those bags…and how to possibly package them…and maybe a novel little trinket that your guests will remember their visit to a specific area. Well…Sara’s Gracious Goodies takes all the guessing work out of this detail for brides. Her ideas bring a little more of a high end quality & representation to the classic hotel guest bag. Prices for the goodies range from $10 – $38 per package & then $10 per tote. However, if you don’t want to pay for the tote, atleast you can purchase the goodies and go with a less expensive route of a colorful paper bag from PaperMart (a great wholesale priced supplies store).

Great find…and great bargain…without the hassle!
