New.Client.Review

The wedding is done…my clients seemed really happy…so check out the new review written by my recent wedding client.

Quality of Service: 5.0 out of 5.0 (5.0/5.0)
Responsiveness: 5.0 out of 5.0 (5.0/5.0)
Professionalism: 5.0 out of 5.0 (5.0/5.0)
Value For Cost: 5.0 out of 5.0 (5.0/5.0)
Flexibility: 5.0 out of 5.0 (5.0/5.0)

Working with Laura was a pleasure! I hired her for DOC services, but she was extremely responsive long before the day of, and was just a pleasure to have as a sounding board and a calming presence. I booked with Laura after speaking with many DOCs. Her rates were reasonable but beyond that, she was the most flexible and most enthusiastic about the task. Leading up to the wedding, I appreciated having her to email, ask questions of, etc. Before the wedding, she worked up a very detailed schedule for the day of, and during the wedding, she coordinated vendors, the venue, and helped make some of my DIY visions come to life. I really appreciated having her come up with that detailed schedule–it was a lifesaver and she had really good ideas for how to order things during the reception.

Before I had booked her, some people had told me that because my venue provided a maitre’d and a bridal attendant, that a separate DOC was not necessary. False! Brides need someone there to keep their interests at heart, not just the interests of the venue. It took a big load off of my parents and my husband and bridal parties’ shoulders to have her there. She was great and I appreciated her calming presence and her help very much!

It makes me feel tremendously proud when my clients are happy with the services I provide. It’s a real pleasure to do what I do & more importantly a big passion of mine. Stay tuned for a board on their wedding!

Lush.And.Textured

I haven’t done a board in quite some time, so when I came across this stunning fall wedding on John Rozier’s website…I couldn’t help myself. There was something so rich about the floral textures of this wedding.

Whether you choose a fall color palette or spring one…I think the key here is texture. Give depth to your flowers. Add a non flower item (feathers for example) or just some twigs to something soft and delicate.

When I look at these flowers I just want to go out and grab it. Touch it. Feel them. Induce curiousity in your wedding decor.

Celebrity.Wedding.For.Less

I’ve been missing for a few months, but I’m back to keeping my readers up to speed on what’s out there. This post is about getting that fabulous celebrity look for less.

Celebrity Wedding of: Brandon Routh & Courney Ford – You would know Brandon from the hit TV Show called Superman Returns.

Producer Jon Peters generously offfered his home, El Capitan Ranch, near Santa Barbara, as the site for the Nomvember 24 wedding.

And elegant wedding…simple…classic…and you can get the same look for less.

The bride wore a Junko Yoshioka…but you can get a similar dress at David’s Bridal for $800. And to create the stunning bouquet made of peonies, orchids and roses stop by FiftyFlower.com or TheFlowerExchange.com where the blooms are delivered fresh to your doorstep and you can have a DIY bouquet that you can take pride in making and getting for a fraction of the cost.

The average cost of a bridal bouquet can run you anywhere from $200 – $400. Depending on the flowers used and the season. But if you order the blooms directly it can run you anywhere from $50 – $200.

For invitations and any paperstock one can visit Paper Source to find card stock and create them at home. They also provide printing templates for do it yourself invitation projects.

Sure it takes a little more work, but if you get a jump start on things and give yourself enough time, you’ll see the reward in the end.

Want to create that stunning and romantic candle light setting? Stop by Save-on-Crafts for inexpensive wedding supplies. They have everything from glass cylinders to hold candles to wonderful paper lanterns. They carry every single wedding supply you can think of, at wholesale pricing.

And they have a section where you can learn how to create some of these fancy wedding looks for less.

Attire for the groom? JCrew can fix that right up…and after the wedding you can wear it anywhere…

suits-for-less

With anything…you do not have to pay top dollar to get the wedding of your dreams. I think part of my challenge as a wedding planner is to ALWAYS provide my clients with “out-of-the-box” ideas on how to create that special look for less.

There are endless resources at your fingertips brides & grooms…it just takes a little patience, time and help to bring the celebrity wedding of your dreams to you!

Real Weddings: Julie & Adam

A lovely Barn was the location of this warm wedding. Julie & Adam were wed at Apple Barn Farm in upstate New York. The couple wanted a destination wedding in the country and that’s exactly what they did. The Barn has been completely redone to host these type of events. Surrounding the pond you have open fields, a pond and an apple orchard with horses fenched in off to the side. It also has a wonderful swing set for little kids to keep themselves entertained. The pictures were shot by Rebecca Turnquist and she surely captured the moment.

Real Weddings: Erin & Eric

Every girl dreams of having a wonderful wedding day. Some dream of large castles…some of tropical destinations…and other girls dream of having an intimate home affair. This was exactly the type of wedding I recently was a guest at. My dear friend Erin dreamed of having a beautiful wedding at their home. The weather was perfect…the location couldn’t be more welcoming..and the mood was perfect to feature it on my blog!

The ceremony was held in the front yard, where the entryway was adorned with fresh green garland around the iron posts. While the door had a lovely green, ivory & purple hydrangea wreath. It served as the perfect alter. The attire was classic and elegant. The groom wore a black suit with a lavender tie and purple sweet pea boutonniere, while the bridesmaids wore black silk dresses with purple, green & ivory bouquets. One of the most important aspects of this wedding, was the wonderful participation by Erin & Eric’s daughter. She wore a pretty lavender dress.

As the guests anticipated the bride walking out of the limo, Eric walked over to the car with their lovely daughter Allison and helped Erin out of the car. The three of them walked proudly down the isle.

The bride walked down the isle in an elegant Ramona Keveza ball gown style dress in ivory. She too held a hydrangea, sweet pea & rose bouquet.

After the ceremony, we all went to the backyard where a white tent was set up with hydrangea centerpieces. There was lots of dancing, a wonderful bonfire by the bar and a comfortable feel to the whole event. The bride and groom along with their daughter cut the white with Bailey’s cream cake. They looked like such a wonderful family as they fed each other.

There are tons of wedding you attend, and witness…but this event was by far one of my favorites. I think the best aspect of this wedding was the fact that the couple chose a location significant to them and I think it shows couples that you can absolutely have a wonderful event in your backyard with a little vision and organization.

It was a pleasure to be at this wedding.

Here is an initial glimpse into Ellen & Portia’s wedding details. We will update the post with more images as they come out to the public.

Ellen just released a video of their wedding day…check it out!

I know this couple has been waiting for this day for a long time. Candles & flowers were done by Mark’s Garden and both brides wore Zac Posen while they sat on floor pillows with Wayne Dyer as he officiated the ceremony.

Their rings were by designer Neil Lane. The couple & guests sat down for an all-vegan menu which was prepared by David Silberkleit. Their vegan velvet cake created by Sweet Lady Jane.

Andrew Firestone & Ivana Bozilovic – Celebrity Wedding

Being that I’m a HUGE fan of the Bachelor & Bachelorette reality shows I couldn’t think of anything better than to feature Andrew Firestone’s wedding details. The wedding took place on July 5th at Crossroads, the Firestone family home in Los Olivos, California. And Mi Belle Photographers sure know how to capture an event such as spectacular as this…

Just before Andrew and Ivana became man and wife, the ushers handed out lyrics to Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ On a Prayer” and the entire congregation serenaded the couple as they departed the church. The bride wore a stunning ivory Reem Acra silk A-line gown with a low-cut back and lace-illusion antique gold embroidery on the bodice. While Andrew showed off his custom-made suit by Tom James.

Her bouquet was created by florist Mindy Rice of Mindy Rice Floral Designs, which consisted of delicate lily of the valley, garden rose, peony, ranunculus, hydrangea and gardenias. A stunning grouping of flowers if I’ve ever seen. During the reception they served their family’s Sauvignon Blanc. Tonya Szele of Soigne Productions was their wedding planner and she created a fabulous warm event. She turned the Pole Barn into an elegant indoor/outdoor ballroom.

The tables were adorned in ivory satin linens… and five chandeliers were suspended above the head table using drop chains wrapped with Tiffany-blue fabric. The guest tables were decorated with alternating tall and short vases overflowing with white hydrangeas. The perimeter was covered in ivory chiffon fabric, which opened up on one side revealing an outdoor dance beneath a 100-year-old oak tree.

The L.A. All Stars performed David Grey’s “This Year’s Love,” to celebrate the couples first dance as husband & wife. It looked like a lovely event.
